The Resistance by SL Scott is a HOT, HOT, HOT book!! S.L. has done it once again with this amazingly written story. Every single one of S.L. Scott's books that I've read, I have fallen in love with. Her words will captivate you and pull you into Holli and Dalton's world and through their steamy but definitely bumpy relationship.Holli, or Holliday, is one of those female characters that I love. She is strong and definitely independent, but also has a soft and vulnerable side to her. A side that needs to be taken care of. She has built up this small business out a simple and silly thing, but is trying her hardest to make a name for herself. Then there is Mr. Jack Dalton. Man, you can tell that this guy is TROUBLE the moment Holli meets him. But what girl can resist a bad boy? The first time that they meet they are in Vegas. And what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right? That's what Holli is thinking when she decides to take this stranger's offer for a quick hookup. We can quickly see that this one night deal won't be just that, especially with the way these two are with each other. But when secrets are uncovered will they be able to go past the Vegas hookup? Will a real relationship be able to occur between these two? Guess you will just have to wait and read!
This book was steamy and hot, BUT it was also very romantic and sweet. There were lines or scenes in this book that had me fanning myself to cool off and other parts that had me swooning over Dalton and his way with words. I seriously LOVE S.L.'s "Welcome To Paradise" series and love Evan, BUT I think THIS is my favorite book from her up till now (that may very likely change once she releases something else lol). S.L. Scott has a way with words to pull her into the story and captivate you, this book is no exception!! You DON'T want to pass it up!!

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this series. The characters are overall likeable and the reader is able to connect with them. There is some good drama which is always fun to read too. That being said it felt like the author only gave you half he story... especially for the other band members than Johnny. I often felt like I was missing part of the last the Love stories and it was assumed we knew more than we did. Then sometimes she would reference those missing pieces later but only partially so I felt even more confused. The other characters’ stories often felt rushed and not fully developed. I also really hate when authors suddenly use flowery prose when you’re supposedly listening to the inner ramblings in someone’s mind. At one point she referred to something about the (paraphrasing here) female rubbing her hand over the part of his body that shields his heart... I for one have never had that type of thought. I completely disconnected with the character when those moments happened.
My review
I got a sneak peek in Skip to the Good Part anthology, where a short teaser from The Resistance was published and I bought The Resistance right after that. The teaser was so promising, so I simply had to have the book! Boy, did I love it!
The Resistance is an intense, fun and well-written book! I loved the characters and the whole story-line and the dialogue in the book adorable!
Holliday Hughes is a successful woman who has invented an Internet meme which went viral. She is visiting Las Vegas for a meeting and after a boring event she is headed to a bar, where a gorgeous guy is asking her for her ID when she is buying a drink. There is an immediate attraction between them and Holliday decides to go for a one-night stand with the sexy stranger whom she thinks is a security guard in the hotel.
Next night in Vegas she finds out shocking truth about the guy she met. Jack Dalton is a lead singer of a world famous rock band The Resistance and he is better known as Johnny Outlaw. Jack Dalton stole a piece of Holli's heart, but she is not sure she can like Johnny Outlaw. And this is how their story starts.
What I loved about the book?
The characters were extraordinary well-written. I loved that Holliday was an independent and successful woman who put her foot down when needed. I liked that she didn't have insecurities and she wasn't heavily influenced by the fact, that her boyfriend was a rock star. She was down to earth and at the same time had a great sense of humor. She was there for Dalton when he needed her most, but then again, she knew what her limits were. I loved that!
I also loved Dalton. What wasn't there to love about him?! He wasn't only a good looking star, but also had his heart at the right place. I was very happy for him when he faced his demons.
I also loved Rochelle and Cory and my heart broke for Rochelle and I am so happy that the next book is about Rochelle.
The dialogue was funny and right out awesome! I giggled a lot. At the same time,the author also gave quite a lot of intensity and anxiety. The relationship between Dalton and Holli was hot, intense and very sexy!
I also loved the plot and the story development. It includes some serious surprises to me and I love that about a good story!
